Algeria Advances Sustainable Blue-Economy Planning and Coastal Development

On 19 October, Algeria’s WestMED National Event in Algiers brought together 118 participants from government, universities, research centres, businesses, startups and civil society to discuss sustainable maritime development. Key themes included sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, ports, desalination, marine energy and coastal ecosystem protection; no specific contract value was announced. Environmental organisations, maritime businesses and public agencies can explore opportunities in coastal monitoring, sustainability reporting and climate-risk analysis.
